THE busy season continues at Tavistock Golf Club.  The Brian Bounsall Trophy is a scratch competition between Tavistock, Yelverton,  Staddon Heights and Elfordleigh and this year was played at the former. 

Played as a Ryder Cup format with a fourball on day one, which is followed by a foursomes and singles on day two.  

After the two days Tavistock won the trophy with the best overall score, runners up were the Yelverton team.

In the men’s medal Dan Harris was first in division one with the excellent score of nett 60,  second was Mark Elvey, nett 67, and third Kenny MacKenzie net 69.  In division two first Ian Thomas nett 72, second John Lyddon, nett 73, on count back from Harry Hopcroft and Steve Fowler.  Nett 69 was Dave Statton’s winning score in division three; second Danvers Hough nett 69 and in third place Ray Barnes, nett 78. 

In the men’s veterans Bill Briant Trophy Graham Horton was first in division one with a nett 70; second Mike Roe, nett 72, third David Bryant, nett 73 on count back from David Young and David Carter.

Top of division two was David Antony with a nett 70; second was Mike Huber, nett 72, on count back from Keith Hollinshead. 

The winner of the trophy was Graham Horton on count back from David Antony.

In the ladies’ Truscott Pitman Foursomes Trophy Donna Cann and Jill Millichamp were the winners with 41 points. The runners up with 34 pts were Fran Horton and Barbara Porter on count back from Wendy George and Joy Tynan. 

Winners of the medal and Goddard Smith Trophies were, in the gross competition, Belinda MacSherry, 85 gross, and runner up Jenny Kay with gross 99.  Lyn Swift took the nett prize with a nett 73 and runner up Jenny Kay with nett 74. 

In the ladies’ monthly Stableford  with 37pts Bridget Luckham was first in division one; second Wendy George 34pts on count back from Cheryl Hall.  Joan Newland was first in division two, also scored 37 pts on count back from Jill Millichamp; third Sue Stewart 32pts.  In division three first was Pat Wylie 36pts, second Helen Mitchell, 32pts, and third Jennie Roe 31pts.
