THE third successful open to be held at Tavistock Golf Club over a period of four days was the men’s four ball better ball.

It produced tight scoring but first was the Tavistock pair Peter Leverton and Paul Whitby with 48 points on count back from Yelverton’s Paul Hendy and Dave Hislop.  In third place were  Ryan and Ross Hodgkinson with 46pts from Boringdon. 

Another home pair in the prizes were Rod Hillman and Mike Apps with 45pts.  Highlight of the day were two holes in one on the seventh from Tavistock’s Vic Read and, from Teignmouth, Lee Eustace.    

In the annual lady captain’s team v her vice captain’s team the honours, once again, went to the vice captain’s side with a score of 369 pts to the captain’s 330pts.

The juniors won their Devon League match at Boringdon, Plymouth, by three matches to two.
