WHAT a golfing year so far for Gary Carey, after having not just one, but three ‘hole-in-ones’ at Okehampton Golf Club this year, a remarkable achievement!
Many golfers find this rare occurrence eludes them throughout their lifetime, but not Gary, having achieved his first on March 16 this year on the seventh hole, his second on June 2 on the 15th hole and his third on August 2 on the seventh hole.
When asked about the remarkable events of this year Gary said: ‘I love being a member of Okehampton Golf Club, the course is great and the members are such a friendly bunch.
‘What makes the hole-in-ones even more pleasurable is that my golfing brother Lee has yet to get one!’
At Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday an individual Stableford competition for the Cyril Masters Salver was held at Okehampton Golf Club and the winner of division one was Kevin Cornwall with 40 points.
In second place was Jon Jamison with 39pts; Rob Green was third with 38 points narrowly beating Lee Carey on the back nine.
The winner of division two and also the Cyril Masters Salver was Bryan Evans with 42pts; Paul Fewings was second with 40pts, Graham Pengelly was third with 39pts closely followed into fourth by Simon James with 38pts.
