EIGHTEEN teams took part in Tavistock Golf Club’s annual New Years Day Team Stableford. 

The weather could have been kinder but, with two scores to count, the winning team of Rob Jarman, Viv Wilton, Ajay Patel and Nick Turner came in with an excellent 96 points. In second place with 94pts were Lee Bartlett, Adam Bridgewater, Mark Elvey and Dan Harris. 

They were closely followed by Nigel Doidge, Andy Down, Rob Staniland and Alan Doidge with 93pts.  In fourth place Richard Rowe, Nigel Roberts, Danny Brockington and Dan Filbey had 91 pts on count back from Martin Channon, Brett Mannering, Gary Pumford and Jas Singh. 

After the match there was a packed clubhouse to see club president Dennis Greening present the new club captain Rob Staniland with his captain’s tie. 

Rob said that he was looking forward to his year as captain and hoped it would be a successful one.
