ONCE the Poultry and Bottle Trot competitions start at Tavistock Golf Club members know that Christmas is not far away!  

Unfortunately the weather has not been kind — the ladies’ three ball better ball Bottle Trot had to be played over 12 holes but the winners Bridget Luckham, Bev Ruth and Lynn Swift scored an excellent 55 points, closely followed Kerry Baker, Nicky Gawman and Belinda McSherry with 54pts and in third place were Lesley Gibson, Joy Harrison and Sue Pratley with 50pts. 

There were heavy showers throughout the first day of the men’s Poultry Stableford. 

First in division one with 38pts was Chris Gawman on countback from Jack Philpotts and Rich Potts. Lewis Reed was first in division two with 40pts, second Steve Andrews with 39 pts, third Marc Ninnis with 38 pts. In division three Paul Lillicrap was first with 37pts, Brian Southgate 35 pts and third Dave Statton 34 pts.

The weather was slightly better for the second Poultry Stableford with Rob Jarman topping division one with 40pts, second Garry Davies 38pts  on countback from Adam Bridgewater and Nigel Doidge. 

First in division two was Gareth Lovell 38pts, second Andy Furse 36pts, third Paul Mace 35pts.

The ladies will play their Poultry competition and the men their Bottle Trot in December.
