IT was another very busy week at Okehampton Golf Club on Friday when it held an Open Ladies Delaney Texas Scramble.

The overall winners with nett 59.6 were Vida Appleton, I Bessell and W Collins (Oke/Launceston) and in second were S Burley, N Hawkins and G Davies with nett 59.8. Best combination team were Marcia Jones, Marcia Collett and Carol Skrzypzcak (Oke/Holsworthy) with nett 61.8; best visitor prize was awarded to F Ryan, L Davis and R Richman (Staddon Heights) with nett 63.6.

On Saturday was the start of the annual Mid Devon Foursomes starting at Downes Crediton and then at Okehampton on Sunday. Players were blessed with fine weather and the greenkeepers must be commended for their sterling work on both courses.

The winners of the 36 hole scratch competiton were Ian Moore and Steve Peake (Okehampton) with 63pts and in second were W Delling and Matt Arnold (East Devon/Downes C) with 61pts. Paul Prouse and Barry Down won the 36 hole handicap with 74 points placing Evan Rees and Alan Searle (Okehampton) in second with 71pts.

David and Sue Williams retained the trophy for the 36 hole mixed followed into second by David and Sue Stanbury with 62pts. Paul Rattenbury and Matt Parry (Okehampton) won the best single sex trophy over 36 holes and Mike McManus and Alan Huxtable (Portmore) were second with 67pts.

Huge congratulations to OGC member Abby Turner who was runner up in the Devon Lady County Championships held at Royal North Devon after a marathon semi-final over 22 holes she was narrowly beaten in the final by Caitlin Evans Brand from Yelverton.
