IT was a busy weekend at Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday when club president Brian Willcocks hosted ‘President’s Day’.
The format of the day was a four ball better ball Stableford competition. The winner of the men’s division was Alan Searle and James Hall with 47 points on the back nine from, in second, Richard Johnson and Pete Grant and, in third, Alan Lawson and Keith Harvey with 46pts.
The ladies’ division was won by Marcia Collett and Sue Stanbury with 37 points and in second place were Cherry James and Mary Keir with 35pts. Prize giving was held in the clubhouse and an enjoyable time was had by all.
On Sunday the club held another successful charity golf day, this one in aid of St Luke’s Hospice. A large field from far and wide entered a four ball two to count Stableford and the winners were Josh Stacey, Simon James, John Jamison and Danny Grey with 88 points and in second place were Drew Glennie, Martin Edmunds, David Saddler and Peter Almon. The best mixed prize was won by Richard and Di Johnson with partners Mick and Babs Beaney. Richard Johnson also achieved a hole in one on the 12th.
On Wednesday the ladies played their monthly medal competition and the winner of the silver division was Marcia Collett with nett 74 beating Cherry James on the back nine to place her in second.
The bronze division was won by Sylvie Gowers with nett 79 and after countback Anne Brokenbrow was second, also with nett 79.
