ON Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club an individual medal for the Macleod Cup (scratch) and the Burd Medal (lowest nett) was contested.

The winner of division one and the Burd Medal was Mark Wonnacott with nett 61 and Del Owen was second with nett 64. Gareth Holt shot the lowest gross score of 68 and is the new holder of the Macleod Cup.

Division two was won by Vic Marks with nett 62 and Paul Ayris was second with nett 64 after countback from in third Pete Okopski. Division three’s winner was Jonathan Tatman with nett 67. Mike Davis took second place with nett 68 and Alan Jeffery was third with nett 70.

The ladies’ section entered the qualifying round of the Ping Four Ball Better Ball competition and the winners were Penny Deakin and Cherry James with 43 points followed into second place by Maggie Caws and Michelle Widdows with 39 pts.

The senior’s May Stableford for the Mike Ingham Cup was played in testing conditions with Richard Goodger winning the trophy on 36 pts, including a better back nine than second placed Barry Porter. Third, on 33 pts, was Tony Phillips.
