THE busy season at Tavistock Golf Club continues apace.  In the ladies’ Goddard Smith and Medal Lynn Swift was first in division one with an excellent nett 71 to take the trophy. Second was Tracy Sutcliffe with nett 76 and third, Maggie Hillman, nett 77.

First in division two Julie Harding with a nett 74 on countback from Marian Stenhouse and third was Helen Heywood on nett 75. 

The ladies’ Challenge Bowl is a 36 medal competition played over consecutive days and  this year’s trophy winner was Fran Horton with a nett 149.  Runner up was Caroline Johns with a nett 151 and, in third place Janet Kiely with a nett 156 on countback from Cheryl Hall.

In the Truscott Pittman Foursomes Trophy Patty Congo and Barbara Porter took the honours with 38 points; runners up were Sybil Cole and Jenny Kay with 37 pts.

In the men’s Alpha Romeo Medal scoring was very tight but Graham Ruth triumphed with a nett 68 on count back from Paul Crump and Mike Wakely; in fourth place Alan Doidge, with nett 69 on count back from junior Jamie Ninnis.

Scoring was also tight in the men’s N Chinn Stableford. With 39pts Dan Harris was first in division one; second, Mike Apps with 38pts on countback from Colin Nolan.

First in division two was Nick Coe on 38pts; second. Andy Cunningham with 34pts on count back from Tim Hawkins and Michael Thrasher.  Chris Laight was first in division three with 34 pts; second, Ray Barnes with 33pts on count back from Barry Shipton.

In the Harvey Frost Mixed Foursomes Trophy the winners with 38pts were Keith and Marian Stenhouse; runners up Mike Apps and Helen Heywood with 37pts on count back from Ken and June Kendall.

In the men’s veterans’ Bill Briant Trophy, first in division one was Dave Treble with a nett 72 on count back from David Johns and Rick Harrison. In division two and winner of the trophy was Simon Dancer with nett 71; second, Ian Rose nett 72 and third, with 73pts, Graham Dennis.  

The winner of the lady veterans Barbara Fisher Cup was  Patty Congo with 30pts and the runner up, June Kendall with 29pts.
