HURDWICK Golf Club hosted the popular John Hewitt Memorial Golf Day on September 5.

Once again John’s popularity was the inspiration to the great fun day enjoyed by all his family and friends from London to Chacewater.

The individual winner was Jack Main (Chacewater) and runner-up was Dan Newman (Plymouth). The team winners were Dan Newman (Plymouth), Alfie Howe (Tavistock) and John Skinner (Tavistock), with 100 collective points. ’King of the Shorties’ winner was Jim McDonald (Plymouth) with 12 points scored on the five par three holes.

A superb day of fine weather, masses of prizes and a hog roast to savour at the end of the golf. The golfers raised £223 on the day for the British Heart Foundation.
