TAVISTOCK Golf Club’s three ball team event attracted a field of 140 players with the team of Nick Coe, Chris Gawman and Mark Thompson taking the honours with a net 134. 

Close behind in second place, with net 135, were Barry Shipton, Gene Thompson and Philip Riley.  In third place Alan Gawman, Marc Ninnis and Junior Jamie Ninnis had a net 138 on count back from John Harding, Keith Hollinshead and David Young. 

In the men’s Stableford and DriveGuard qualifier scoring was close but Nick Mier with 34 points was first in division one on count back from Damien Dee and Dave Treble. 

Mike James in division two had 38pts on count back from Lee Bartlett; third was Harry Hopcroft on 33pts. 

Winners in the Winter League divisions, organised by Club Pro Glenn Richards,  were Alan Gawman and Jack Phillpotts,  Richard Burrows and Tony Cooper, Adam Bridgewater and Nick Mier and juniors Tom White  and George Bumford.

The 61 ladies who played in the monthly Stableford  had, for once, had fine weather!  In division one Sally Hills scored 35pts, second Wendy George 32 pts on count back from Fran Horton. 

Kate Butler in division two had 35pts on count back from Marion Stenhouse; third was Jenny Kay on 34pts. 

On 37pts Myra Sussex was first in division three; while second was Pat Taylor 36 pts on count back from Ann Dawson. 

The juniors have started their season well beating Boringdon Hall in the first round of the Basil Steer Trophy and winning their first league match 3- 2 away to Wrangaton.

There were victories for the men’s veterans against East Devon and the ladies against Launceston.  The lady veterans have also won their first two matches —  a good start to the season!
