ON Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club a four ball better ball competition for the Charles Pedrick Shield was held.

The winners of division one and the shield were Evan Rees and Lee Pengelly with 48 points. In second place were Del Owen and Graham Moysey with 44pts and in third position were Andy Parry and Mitchell Hunt with 43pts.

Division two was won by Alan Jeffrey and Rob Camies with 44pts followed into second by David Stallion and Reggie Wonnacott with 43 pts. Rod Milsom-Smith and Bob Jones took third place with 41pts narrowly beating Richard Johnson and Pete Grant on the back nine also with 41pts.

Congratulations to both the club’s ladies’ Creasy and Presidents’ teams reaching the quarter finals of the competitions. The Creasy team managed to overcome the Portmore ladies at Staddon Heights and the President’s team accomplished a win against the Stover Ladies held at Thurlestone. Both teams now go through to the semi-finals.

On Sunday a full field entered into a successful charity golf day raising thousands in aid of St Luke’s Hospice.

The overall winners with 113 points were Andy Parry, Lewis Parry, Matt Parry and Alan Grimshaw and in second were Evan Rees, Lee Pengelly, Alan Searle and Kevin Cornwall with 111pts.

The best mixed team prize was won by Ian Drayner, Michelle Widdows, Blackie Widdows and Stuart Wilson with 91pts and the best visitor team prize was won by Drew Glennie, Geoff Smith, Nick Redman and Matt Dean from Pavenham and Bovey Castle Golf Clubs.

The most successful ladies’ team prize was won by Lorna Evans, Janice Thwaites, Anne Brokenbrow and Val Dodsworth with 68pts. John Skyrme from Okehampton also achieved a hole in one on the 12th.
