TAVISTOCK Golf Club members packed the golf club to say goodbye to Simon Invest, the assistant golf professional.
Glenn Richards, the club professional, told members that Simon had been with the club for nine years and was moving on to a new job in the golfing world.
‘Simon will be sadly missed,’ said Glenn ‘not only by myself but by all the many golfers who he has taught and helped.’
Tom White, the junior captain, on behalf of all the juniors thanked Simon for his hard work, time and effort he has spent over the years with them. Club captains Maurice Craze and Marian Stenhouse also praised Simon for always being so helpful and attentive and, on behalf of all the members and staff, they wished him well in his new job and announced that Simon has been given an honorary membership of the club.
A collection by members was presented to Simon, who said how amazed he was that so many had come to say goodbye.
‘I shall miss being part of this great club,’ said Simon, ‘but I felt that it was time to move on. My special thanks to Elaine who has worked with me in the shop and, of course, to Glenn and to all the members who I have got to know over the years. I hope to see you all on the golf course!’
