TWENTY one teams played in Tavistock Golf Club’s New Year’s Day Stableford in dry weather conditions.

Scoring was good but first with an excellent 87 points were Max Clarke, Lynn Swift, George Gawman and Nicky Gawman. Close behind were Andy Down, Richard Rowe, Danny Brockington and Peter Floyd with 86pts. In third place Tim Hawkins, Rick Crawford, Richard Wraith and Graham Raikes with 84 pts on count back from Tony Cooper, Glyn Cunnick, Gary Davies and Mike Wakely, Ron Ball, Martin Channon, Gary Pumford and Jas Singh.

New Year’s Day was also the first day as captain for Barry Shipton. Retiring captain Rob Staniland told members how much he enjoyed his year and thanked them for their support and wished Barry every success.
