PLAYED over two days, the Tavistock Golf Club men’s championship attracted 84 players and, with a gross score 143, Alan Gawman took the honours as this ayear’s club champion.

Winner of the David Walls trophy for the best handicap player was Mike Sutcliffe with a level par over the two rounds.  

In the annual Ladies v Men match the ladies, once again, were beaten five and a half to two and half.  However, many of the matches were very close so the result could have gone either way!

The juniors continue to excel.  They have now won their half of the West Devon League and will now play the winners of the East Devon division. 

Twenty three ladies and their guests competed in the Ladies’ Guest Day.  The winners were Helen Phipps and partner with 47 points, closely followed by Ginny Samborne and guest with 46pts and in third place, with 45pts, were June Kendall and her guest.

In the ladies Medal and Grandmothers’ Cup Kayleigh Cann topped division one with the excellent score of nett 71; second Belinda MacSherry, nett 75, and third was Donna Cann on nett 76. First in division two was Ginny Samborne with nett 73; second Anne Dawson, nett 76, and third Jenny Roe, nett 77. 

The winner of the Grandmothers’ Cup was Anne Dawson.
