AT Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday a four ball better ball Stableford competition for the Charles Pedrick Shield was held.
The winners of division one with 45 points were Richard Prouse and Rob Green; in second were Pete Okopski and Kevin Cornwall with 44pts and in third place with 42pts were Richard Johnson and David Williams.
The winners of division two and the Charles Pedrick shield with an excellent 51 points were Reg Prescott and Sam Evans. In second place were Paul Rogers and Andrew Sinclair and Adrian Raymond and David Way were third with 45pts.
This week the ladies’ section held their annual club championships over 36 holes in blistering hot conditions but despite the heat some good scores were attained. The club champion is, once again, Abby Turner with a gross 72 nett 69 and gross 79 nett 76. Marcia Collett was runner up with a gross score of 80 nett 69 and 82 nett 71. Cherry James had two very solid rounds winning the handicap salver with nett 67 and nett 66 placing Sue Stanbury in second with nett 68 and nett 71.
The Vick Rose Bowl for the over 65s was also contested and the winner with a cracking 37 points was Okehampton Golf Club’s lady president Doris Jewell; Janice Thwaites was second with 33pts and Val Dodsworth took third place with 32pts.
