Okehampton ladies 5

Penzance ladies 7

OKEHAMPTON started well in this exciting fast paced game with Jo Moppet opening the scoring for the home side after five minutes.

However, Penzance countered this quickly to equalise.

The game continued end to end with the centre Oke midfield of Joey Drake and Kim Bland intercepting, tackling and distributing the ball well leading to Okehampton scoring again.

Penzance quickly attacked and despite strong defending had a shot on goal which was intercepted painfully by Rachel Hammets foot and Penzance were awarded the first of three penalty strokes of the game. Brave keeper Shannon Osman got a hand to the raised ball but it passed on into the net to make it 3-2 to the visitors at half time.

Penzance attacked strongly at the start of the second half and scored again despite the hard working of defenders Jane Jones and Debbie Pritchard.

Okehampton  played the ball into the attacking circle using well placed Tara Davidson on the left wing to feed attacker Lesley Bingham; she neatly distributed  the ball to Jo Moppet who scored. Penzance were awarded another penalty stroke and again Shannon Osman made contact but was unable to stop.

It was still anyone's game. End to end play continued with all players working hard and displaying determination, Carol Taylor showed superb team skills, controlling the midfield players ensuring they covered the attacking players. Despite Okehampton's hard work  Penzance just had the edge. Oke's player of the match was five times goal scorer Jo Moppet.
