ON a very wet Wednesday morning five teams of U15 girls from Clyst Vale, Stoke Damerel, Bodmin, Okehampton and Tavistock Colleges met at Tavistock College to take part in a full contact sevens' rugby tournament.
Despite the inclement weather, the girls played with determination and flair and the final between Tavistock and Clyst Vale was the culmination of three hours of excellent rugby and good sportsmanship. Clyst Vale were the eventual winners.
Okehampton girls played in their very first rugby tournament and are keen to continue playing. They have been coached by Glenn Channing and Mhairi McCall since September 2011 under an RFUW initiative. It is hoped that North Tawton Ladies will take the girls under their wing and start a girls' section.
