GREAT Britain’s Duathlon team had a special tribute to their fellow athlete Marilyn Cooper, the Okehampton Running Club runner, who sadly suddenly died, aged 61, earlier this year.

The GB team took part in the ETU Sprint Duathlon which was held last week in Wunderland near Kalkar in Germany.

In tribute to Marilyn, who had qualified for selection to be in their team and was due to make her GB debut, team members wore ribbons with the red and yellow colours of ORC.

Joan Lennon, GB Age Group team manager, said: Marilyn was talked about a lot and many athletes expressed their very genuine sadness over the news that a fellow duathlete had died so tragically. It makes all of us realise how tenuous one’s hold on life and fitness really is.’
