TAVISTOCK Swim-ming Club took a mixture of experienced swimmers and a number of their new members to a gala at Parklands, Okehampton.

They competed against Okehampton Otters, Tiverton and Exmouth swimming clubs.

For Callum Burden, Charlie Hoskin, Hamish Noakes and Maddie Wall it was their first experience of competing in a swimming gala and being part of a competing team. The swimmers produced some very good races, with many of them having very close finishes.

First places finishes were achieved by Kieran Rookes (2), Laura Meredith (2), Emily Attfield, Gemma Arundel, Luke Stephens and Matt Edwards, as well as the 12 and under girls medley relay team, 14 and under girls' freestyle relay team, the boys 14 and under medley relay team and the boys 15 and over relay team won both their freestyle and medley relays.

Also competing for Tavistock Swimming Club were: Sophie Anderson, Sam Bates, Abbie Best, Annabel Botham, Luke Botham, Harriet Edwards, Emily France, Jake France, Alex Francis, Amber Francis, Thanae Garland, Ryan Lillyman, Chloe Marks, Cameron McGurk, James Meredith, Rosie Milburn, Ieuan Noakes, Izzy Teague, Sarah Teague, Beth Thompson, Harry Thompson, Morgan Turnock, Maddie Wall, and Annaliese Wright.

Head coach James Lake said: 'With a high number of swimmers joining the club over recent months, we went to Okehampton with a young team and swam many of our new swimmers. It was a tough gala and everyone did great! We are defiantly a growing club.'
