Following his good run in the Edinburgh Half Marathon the previous week, ORC runner Roger Voaden upped his distance to compete in the Dartmoor Discovery Ultra Marathon on Saturday along with fellow club member Paul Carter.
These two well matched runners enjoy a friendly rivalry and this time it was Paul who came out on top finishing in an excellent 12th place in a time of 4 hours 35 minutes 35 seconds with Roger only five places behind in 4.44.51 — the two being second and third respectively in the MV45 category.
While the warm sunshine made a welcome change for the spectators to the bleak weather this race sometimes takes place in, it was not ideal conditions for the runners with a strong headwind making it even harder in places.
