FOUR swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club competed at the annual Royal Navy Masters open meet at Millfield School, Somerset. There more than 49 clubs competing at the event.
Competing for the first time at the event was TSC's Nathaniel Rookes in the 18-24 age group who was third in the 100 metre backstroke — his favoured event. He continued with a further four races notching up with two personal best times along way.
Kirsty Best in the 18-24 age group featured in five races at the meet. She won double gold in the 50 and 100 metre breaststroke events and a silver in the 100 metre IM and bronze in the 50 metre freestyle. Gareth Williams in the 25-29 age group) had six events and won five gold medals and achieve the top male in his age group.
Chris Anderson in the 60-64 age group, who used to be in the Royal Navy, competed in seven events and gained a top three position in all races - showing good stamina over the days racing.
Chris broke a couple of long standing Royal Navy Master records. Despite only having four swimmers at the event, Tavistock Swimming Club were 10th position overall in the club competition.
