Devon Cup

Lakeside 0

Tavistock CFC ladies 3

TAVISTOCK went into the game as holders of the Devon cup so to win was paramount for them. Unfortunately for the away side due to injuries they started the game with only 10 players.

However, they started the game well and the makeshift defence of Donna Hone, Della Moloney, Becky McMullin and Terri Pearce thwarted any Lakeside attacks. Zoe Stock in goal for Tavistock swept up anything in and around her area and Wallis Ryan and Eleanor Mills-Hicks worked tirelessly in midfield. Tavistock’s first goal came from a fine solo run and shot from Becky McMullin as the first half ended 1-0 to Tavistock.

At half time player/manager Tania Coker, despite being injured, came on as another striker to give the team 11 players. It soon paid dividends as it created space for the forwards and Jones and Gordon on the wings too. After a few close efforts Coker had her reward after a shot from Turner was saved and she showed composure to slot it away. This was soon followed by a goal from Turner after a quick throw from Kirsty Jones found her on the left and she scored a neat shot from an acute angle to put TCFC ladies into the next round to defend their title.
