Tavistock AFC 3

Tiverton Town 1

TAVISTOCK AFC got their preparation for the new challenge of the Western League off to a perfect start, with a fine work out against Southern League side Tiverton Town.

Both teams played some really good eye catching football. The passing and movement off the ball was very good, providing entertainment for the spectators, with the Lambs running out the winners by three goals to one.

The home side took the lead in the third minute, when a fine move saw Tallan Burns fire home an unstoppable shot from 12 yards.

The Lambs doubled their advantage early in the second half when a terrific move opened up the Tiverton defence for Burns to rifle the ball home from 15 yards. Tiverton reduced the deficit on the hour mark when Levi Landricombe finished off a fine move with aplomb. Tavistock restored a two goal advantage when Tyler Elliot finished off another classic move.

This was a perfect work out for the Lambs against a top quality side. The now face Taunton Town who are strongly fancied for the Southern League title next season.

This Saturday (July 13) the club will be holding an 11-a-side football festival with teams from Torpoint, Launceston, Millbrook, and Bere Alston taking part. The first kick off time is at noon. Go along and enjoy a day of football. The Lambs entertain Neil Warnock’s Championship side Cardiff City on Monday, July 15, kick-off 7pm.
