IN this cup semi-final on Sunday in Exeter both teams started slow after weeks of no matches.
Tavistock started to apply the pressure as ten women Exeter struggled to get the ball out of their half. After multiple close chances, quick feet and hard work from Tavistock’s Becky Turner she wiggled her way through to the goal line and fed the ball to the awaiting Becky Gordon who coolly executed the tap in.
Tavistock continued to pressure hard with the defence quickly closing down any of Exeter breaks.
The second goal came from great linking play between Becky McMullin and Kirsty Jones on the left, delivering a ball to Turner who turned at the top of the box a hit a sublime strike into the right side of the net.
After the break the visitors capitalised on a tired Exeter team scoring a third within minutes of the start if the second half. Turner receiving the ball high in the box chipped the keeper and guided the ball into the goal.
Tavistock’s fourth came from McMullin finding space and driving home an excellent long range shot dipping just below the bar and over the keeper. Tavistock progress to the final where they will play Buckland Athletic ladies on March 29 at 7.15pm, at the County head quarters, Newton Abbot.
