AN INDIVIDUAL Stableford contest took place on Saturday in glorious weather at Okehampton Golf Club with the course in superb condition last weekend.

The winner of division one with an excellent 45 points was Rod Wright with his gross score of 71 — beating his age by two shots — a superb achievement; in second place was Will Searle with 42pts and in third place winning on the back nine was Paul Douglas with 39pts.

Division two winner was Paul MacDonald with 42pts, in second place Simon James with 37pts just ahead on the back nine from Nick Atkinson in third place also with 37pts.

Winner of division three was Toby Gostling with 41pts, in second place was Zdenko Dalajka with 37pts and in third place winning on the back nine was Eric Pengelly with 36pts.

Okehampton ladies have started the season well at Saunton Golf Club in the Saunton Team Challenge.

In their first ever visit to the North Devon links for this long standing team competition with Maggie Caws, Lin Atkinson and Frances Harbron on the east course and Judith Ezard, Cherry James and Elaine Marwood on the west course they won the second best visitors’ prize.

With 21 teams playing on a gloriously sunny day the Okehampton ladies were delighted to come fourth overall.
