STREET 2

TAVISTOCK AFC 0

TAVISTOCK’s fantastic run winning 12 league fixtures on the bounce came to end at Street on Saturday.

The Lambs made a good start with their first attack when a fierce shot was well saved by Norris in the home goal. The visitors continued to dominate possession and should have taken the lead in the 14th minute when a great run by Jack Crago down the left flank saw him provide a perfect cross to set up Luke Brown but his shot went over the bar from eight yards.

Two minutes later another fine move saw Crago set up Jordan Annear but he dragged his shot wide of the target. The next attack saw Josh Grant shoot wide of the goal.

Street’s first real attack on the Lambs’ goal came in the 26th minute with a shot over from the edge of the penalty area.

Crago then shot wide for the visitors from an angle in the penalty area. Home goalkeeper Norris then made a fine save to deny Grant.

The Lambs did manage to get the ball in the net when a long ball put Crago in on goal; he finished with aplomb but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Norris then pulled off another fine save to deny Tom Annear from opening the scoring and the first half ended goalless.

The second started with the Lambs still dictating the play. Crago scuffed his shot when well placed. Another fine move resulted in Grant flashing his shot over the bar from 18 yards. Manager Stuart Henderson made his first substitution, when Liam Prynn replaced Annear who took a knock in the closing stages of the first half.

Having weathered the storm Street then started to get a foothold in the game with play flowing from end to end. On the hour mark Warren Daw replaced Dave Hallett, he was soon in the action forcing Norris to make a good save

A fine move saw the ball find Prynn but he shot wide of the target from eight yards.

The Lambs’ paid the penalty for missing so many chances, when in the 65th minute a fierce shot from Hebbard was parried by Tom Watson; the rebound fell kindly in to the path of Andrews who riffled the ball home from ten yards.

The Lambs pushed for an equaliser but Grant sliced his shot and Norris made an easy save. The visitors were now pushing more and more men forward and with 12 minutes remaining they lost possession and a swift counter attack by the home team ended when debutant Osborne provided the perfect cross for Thomas to flick the ball into the net.

Tavistock continued to press forward but it was just not their day and paid the penalty for all those chances missed, particularly in the first half.

The Lambs will be wondering how on earth they lost this game, although not at their best, they still created enough scoring chances to have had the game rapped up in the first half.
