OKEHAMPTON SECONDS 1
OKEHAMPTON travelled to Priory in Exeter hoping to keep their 100% league record intact.
As the contest started on a boggy pitch, it was clear Okehampton would not be able to develop the same level of scoreboard superiority they had enjoyed in previous weeks, with both teams struggling to put together phases of play.
Spurned chances from Harry Tickner and Connor Mills looked to be sending the game in goalless at the break before Oke put together a flowing move with some good interchanges between Jamie Mallett and Tickner allowing player manager Steve Madge to slot home for the opener.
The second half was a tense and turgid affair as Priory pushed to get back into the match. This effort came to a head ten minutes from time as the Priory striker clipped the top of the bar having finally breached the Oke defence, who boast an impressive record of just six goals conceded in seven games. This was as close as Priory would come, with Oke wasting several chances on the counter attack to seal the win.
Okehampton held on to stay five points clear at the top of the league.
