Tavistock CFC 2

Maristow 3

THE Tavistock Comm-unity FC?team were looking to bounce back to winning ways and at the end of a topsy turvy contest they found themselves on the wrong end of the score sheet for the second weekend in a row.

Dominating the early stages and playing attractive football, it looked like the home side had shaken off the previous week’s performance and were back on track. Strikers Richard Beckett and Nathan Alleyne were causing all sorts of problems for the visitors with their industrious running and skilful interplay.

The first half was played in a physical but mostly fair manner with both sides picking up a number of bookings. Community though were to be punished for not converting their chances, Maristow taking the lead with an excellent finish into the bottom corner. It remained 1-0 at half time.

Within five minutes of the re-start TCFC drew level courtesy of a snap shot finish from Beckett.

With the impressive centre backs James Burns and Will Stuart keeping the visiting strikers relatively quiet, Community were able to build a sustained period of pressure which eventually led to a richly deserved goal for man of the match Nathan Alleyne. Receiving the ball on the right hand side of the box he fired a low and powerful shot into the opposite corner.

Inexplicably Tavistock then switched off for ten minutes and squandered the lead and with it the three points. A lack of experience allowed the visitors to pile forwards in numbers and convert twice in quick succession leaving the home side in a state of shock.

Despite regaining their composure and with it the confidence to create more chances, Tavistock could not find a way back into the game. The mangers and players alike were all hugely disappointed with the result.
