LAMERTON faced a strong St Dennis side. It was also an emotional day as Lamerton held a minute’s silence for their old chairman Graham Goldring who died recently. The game was dedicated to him.

The home side conceded first from a fierce strike by a St Dennis player. Soon after Lamerton equalised after great work from Blair Vanstone, who chipped the ball in for Nathan Panter to head home. The first half was scrappy but it finished all square going into the break.

In the second half Lamerton pulled their socks up and found their passing way. They took the lead through Glen Holmes from a Nathan Panter corner.

With the run of play, Lamerton pushed for the third and it soon came when Paul Cowling harassed a defender to win the ball back; he then set up youngster Dan Patton to smash the ball past the goalkeeper.

St Dennis never gave up and bounced back by scoring a penalty; then with some neat passing they made the game level firing the ball past Josh McDonald.

With five minutes to go Lamerton scored the winner when Dave Downham’s 30 yard cross ball to Patton was headed into the path of Daryl Panter who made no mistake to end the game and take home all the three points. This result maintains Lamerton’s position at the top the league.
