WESTBURY UNITED 0

TAVISTOCK AFC 1

TAVISTOCK were looking to make it the perfect ten league victories on the bounce.

The home side from Wiltshire started the better forcing a series of corners and from the third one visiting goalkeeper Tom Watson was on hand to tip an effort over the bar.

The Lambs took the lead on 15 minutes. Luke Brown sent Jordan Annear down the right and his pin point cross found Josh Grant at the goal area to head home.

Moments later Josh Robbins sent in a cross but Grant’s header fell into the welcoming arms of the keeper.

Some heavy pressure from the Lambs saw Liam Prynn have half a chance but he could not control the ball at the crucial time. Yet another chance for Tavistock went begging with Ben Cross’s ball into the area and Grant’s stab just wide of the post.

The Lambs continued to probe for the elusive second goal but all to no avail with the best effort coming from Brown as he skipped into the area but his chip over the keeper cleared him and the bar.

The home side were out of the blocks at the start of the second half as Griffiths blasted over from close range. The visitors continued to press again for the second goal but without success. Brown and Prynn went close before Jack Crago came on for Brown.

Lack of discipline let the home side down with 15 minutes to go. A yellow card for a foul on Dave Hallett turned into a red card and then it became a second red with the home side having too much to say to the officials.

The Lambs should have had a more convincing victory but they held firm to the final whistle to make it the ‘perfect 10’.
