TAVISTOCK AFC came close to taking the lead in the seventh minute when good work by Liam Prynn created a good chance for Jack Crago but his shot was well saved by Moor in the visitors’ goal. Three minutes later Moor made another save to deny Liam Prynn from scoring following some excellent work by the lively Bailey Williams.
The Lambs took the lead in the 14th minute when Afet Toujani found Bailey Williams with a delightful pass - he played a square pass to Liam Prynn, who rifled the ball home from 20 yards.
The first real attack on the home goal came in the 20th minute when a fine low cross into the six yard box from Bray was cleared away for a corner kick, which was cleared. The Lambs continued to dominate the game playing some delightful passing football, which tested a resilient and determined Bere Alston defence.
Tavistock doubled their lead in the 40th minute when another flowing move, Liam Prynn’s pass to Jack Crago split the visitors’ defence, Jack Crago played a square pass for young Bailey Williams to slot the ball home from seven yards.
Just before the interval Tallin Burns saw his bullet like shot from 23 yards canon back off a post. This was followed by Moor making another superb save to deny Jack Crago, when he got on the end of a terrific cross from Tallin Burns, to keep the score at 2-0 at the interval.
The Lambs made three substitutions at the start of the second period. Glynn Hobbs who has re-joined the Lambs, replacing Prynn, Lewis Coombes for Williams and Shanley for Elliot.
The game continued in the same vein as the first with the Lambs dominating possession with Afet Toujani, Tallin Burns, and Reece Shanley, controlling the middle of the park. Chances were created by the home team but the Bere Alston defence continued to defend with defiance, blocking and making last ditch clearances. The keeper also made some really good saves to deny Tavistock from increasing their lead.
Just before the hour, Lambs substitute keeper Jack Ord made a fine save to deny Moorhead from scoring, tipping his fine effort over the bar. The Lambs finally got their third goal when a terrific shot from Burns rebounded back off the visitors’ keeper, with Lewis Coombes on hand to slot the ball home.
The home side made it 4-0 In the 70th minute when another fine move saw Afet Toujani find Jack Crago with a defence splitting pass; he calmly fired the ball home low into the corner of the net.
Five minutes from time the Lambs completed the scoring when another great move saw Reece Shanley provide a cushioned header to Jack Crago who slotted the ball home from six yards.
This was a fine game of football, and a good work out for both teams, getting match time. There were a number of fine performances, with the younger members of the squad showing they can more than hold their own at this level.
