Plympton Ladies 3

TAVISTOCK Community FC continued their preseason friendlies on Sunday against Plympton Ladies, and although suffering a 3-1 loss, gave Tavistock the chance to try some new formations and positions for some of the players.

Tavistock Ladies went 2-0 down early on in the first half after two great shots from Plympton forwards but, in true Tavistock style, they fought back hard.

Superb defending from Chelsea Starbucks, Carleigh Bammens, Tania Coker and Robyn Hammond and strong keeping from Zoe Stock kept the score at 2-0. Rebecca McMullin worked hard in the middle all match to hold the team and the Plympton keeper made some superb saves to keep them in the game, with Becky Turner coming close on numerous occasions.

The second half saw a much more attacking Tavistock with a new formation and a new position for Robyn Hammond, who tried out the role of striker. She soon found the back of the net, bringing back the score line to 2-1.

The midfield continued to feed the ball through to the forwards, with Eleanor Mills-Hicks holding the position well and Donna Hone and Wallis Ryan working hard on the wings. Some good runs from both Emily Martin and Becky Gordon led to chances for forwards Jo Harris and Robyn Hammond but the Plympton keeper was on top form.

The second half saw Plympton grab a third goal with a bottom corner strike from their centre forward that left Tavistock keeper Gemma Small with no chance, despite being kept on her toes all match and making some great saves.

Many positives to be taken from the game today, as Tavistock were missing some crucial players due to injury and illness and managed some outstanding play on the pitch.
