OKEHAMPTON A 13

PLYMOUTH UNIVERSITY 0

OKEHAMPTON A went into their fifth game of the season hoping to continue their winning streak from the previous two games.

The home side quickly took the advantage with two quick goals by Luxton, both expertly placed into the goal from short corners. However, the away side did not cave in as the Oke midfield of Jimmy Lewis-Humbert, Charlie Glanville and Tim Morgan worked to control the middle of the pitch leaving the Oke defence with little to do. A fantastic run by Watson lead to the score becoming 3-0 before half time.

The second half began with the home side intending to extend their lead or let the Uni side back into the game. Within the opening play a superb run up the wing from Stuart Jarvis caught the visiting side off guard; an excellent shot from the top of the D flew into the back of the net for 4-0. A series of short corners led to Jarvis finding the net again with an excellent chip into the top right corner. More penalty corners followed as the score was extended to 8-0 with two excellent goals by Luxton and a third from Jones.

With the away side desperate for a goal any would be goal scorers were kept calmly at bay by the back three of Ben Bowles, John Jarvis and Ben Yelland ably supported by Alfie Morgan in the midfield.

Oke rang the changes to give their young upcoming players more game time and Glanville forced his way up the wing, off loaded the ball to Will Ash in the back corner who cracked in an excellent cross that found Hughes who deflected it in between the goalikeeper’s legs for 9-0.

With the away side becoming disheartened Oke A were ready to continue adding to the goal difference.

An excellent short corner play from Ash, Watson and Luxton lead to Luxton’s fifth goal. The opposing side had a new flurry of energy as they attempted to break Oke’s clean sheet but a counter attack caught the Plymouth defence short and a quick deflection by Tim Morgan and another short corner goal by Luxton soon made it 12-0. In the final minutes another great run by Jarvis found Watson near the D who slotted the ball into the lower right corner giving Okehampton their third consecutive win.
