THE new champions of the Son Rise Cup are the Duke of York, who won 3-0 against a strong Grub Up side who battled throughout at the game at Langsford Park, Tavistock on Sunday.
It was a high tempo match with a lot of quality passing especially in the high temperature.
The four match officials gave local Tavistock first team player Josh Robbins the Cyril Hodge man of the match award presented by Mayor Mandy Ewings. The Refs’ nightmare award went to retiring player Mark Claridge; the Tom Wakenshaw Respect award to community man George Scott for all his dedicated and hard work in local football. This award was presented by local hero Lee Spencer from Row2recovery.
Skipper James Follett lifted the original cup.

Allen Lewis, on behalf of the Son Rise committee, said: ’All in all the event raised £400 for the Son-Rise Specials trust and a great afternoon was had by all.’
