Tavistock AFC Reserves 3
Bere Alston FC 2
THIS game was always going to be a tough game, with a soft pitch and great conditions Tavistock AFC Reserves took full advantage of a slow starting Bere Alston team.
Ryan Crabb’s towering header for Tavistock from a corner opened the scoring after eight minutes followed eight minutes later by a second Crab header from a Phelps cross at right wing to make it 2-0.
It then became 3-0 when Scott Wellington found Alex Lowe who raced through, drew out the Bere keeper and squared it to Kevin Hatch to slot home from 12 yards in the 26 minute.
Bere Ålston pulled one back in the 40th minute when the referee ignored home appeals for an an offside and Elliot stroked home at the far post as the teams went into interval with Tavistock ahead 3-1.
Lowe Hatch and Phelps all came close in the second half for the Lambs, and Castle was well supported by a solid back four, which kept Bere to long range efforts in the second half.
Bere pinched a late goal on 88 minutes via a Ryan Smale shot that deflected off Si Cook, giving Castle no chance.
Tavistock saw out the added injury time minutes for a hard earned but deserved win in this hotly contested derby match.
