Tavistock CFC 2

Windmill FC 0

AFTER two defeats in a row Tavistock Community FC bounced back to winning ways, in front of a healthy crowd at Crowndale, with an excellent win against a Windmill side sat second in the league.

The early exchanges were evenly matched, with both sides creating chances without ever really giving the goalkeepers little to worry about. As the first half wore on Tavistock settled into a good rhythm, with Dan Quick on the left wing and Joe Wilkinson on the right starting to overrun the visiting defence, ably assisted by the full backs Karl Cudmore and David Milligan.

The momentum was with the home side and the pressure finally told when Luke Moody was clattered outside the area by the on rushing Windmill goalkeeper who was subsequently sent off.

With James Burns and Connor Phelan controlling the midfield and industrious work up front from Billy Barriball and Luke Moody, Community found themselves frustrated when the half time whistle blew and the score line remained 0-0.

With Cudmore picking up an injury a defensive reshuffle saw Jack Jessop move into centre back alongside Will Stuart and Lee Rosser Lewis move to full back.

The second half started the same way the first had finished and it seemed like only a matter of time before Community would score. Persistent work from man of the match Joe Wilkinson resulted in a chance for Billy Barriball and he did not disappoint, tucking the ball into the bottom left corner.

A swift counter attack resulted in the second goal, Dan Quick cutting in from the left wing and firing home having skilfully beaten a number of the Windmill defenders.

To their credit the visitors did not give up and had periods of pressure as they sought a way back into the match.

With centre backs Will Stuart and Jack Jessop winning their challenges and goalkeeper Pat Hobbs controlling his area, Tavistock kept the clean sheet their performance deserved. It was an excellent all round performance from Community and will hopefully act as a spring board to a run of positive results.
