Tavistock B 6
OPMs B 1
TAVISTOCK B made six changes since their last game due to unavailability against a side they had lost their two previous encounters with — Old Plymouth Mannameadians.
In Tavistock’s first attack Buckeridge-Hobbs linked on to a fine pass into the D and scored the first of his three goals. This took the pressure off and allowed the home side’s usual game to flow and as the half progressed, they gained control and dominated large parts of the game.
Andrews scored a fine goal to put them 3-0 — a well deserved after so much pressure. OPMs replied to make the score 3-1 and with this were resurgent and countered effectively. They tested the Tavistock defence of Glanville, Tanner, Bicknell and Anning, who had to be at their best to stop their ever growing confidence on the ball. Home keeper Oxenham was at the right place at the right time and made some match winning saves and kept us in the game.
In the second half Tavistock took control with their midfield of Walker, J Sealey, Gunter-Lees and B Sealey kept the visitors’ attacks to a minimum breaking up any threats before they penetrated any further into their half. However, unnecessary pressure was allowed to mount with Glanville being carded and duly sent off for a vicious stick tackle and Tanner picking up a yellow card for a deliberate offence of not retreating sufficiently to the halfway line during a short corner, which meant Tavistock were down to nine players.
A quick reshuffle with Walker dropping back for the carded Tanner and Mason filling in at right back plugged the gaps until the return of the two offenders. More goals followed as OPMs tired. Bellamy’s hard work throughout the game was rewarded with an unstoppable goal to great applause from the side line. Mason completed the rout to make it 6-1.
This was a great team performance probably the side’s best all season.
