THE end of 2014 saw Tavistock's two cricket clubs battle it out in an inaugural football fixture held on the Tavistock Community Sports Centre's all weather pitch.

Despite the torrential conditions early on and presence of some not so natural footballers, the game was played to a good standard and in good spirits.

After a nervous start from both sides it was Simpson of Tavistock that broke the deadlock slotting past Sambells from close range.

A further three goals from TCC saw them into the break with a healthy four goal cushion.

The second half saw a spirited comeback from the Wayfarers with a particularly fine effort from Bone setting the tone; however, it was not to be as man of the match Aaron Churchill — who was taking time away from rugby duties — scored a quick brace to secure the win for the Tavistock CC side.
