Okehampton A 8
OPM B 1
OKEHAMPTON A conceded an early goal, much to the annoyance of the young keeper Ebby Vallance. Determined not to drop points or morale, Oke bounced straight back with a reverse strike finishing in the roof of the net from Jake Lloyd.
With Old Plymouth Mannameadeans down to 10 men following a yellow card, Oke kept up the pressure and Lloyd scored again from a penalty corner. They did not let up with Alex Osman and Tom Hutchings marshalling the defence.
Tim Morgan and Jaden Reed turned the screw in midfield as OPM went back to 11 men. The pressure paid off with veteran Chris Luxton scoring two tap in goals. The next two Oke goals were from well executed penalty corners with Luxton foiling the keeper for both resulting in a 6-1 lead at half time.
The seconds were a bit ragged at the start of the second half. Defenders George Morgan and Mark Bingham played higher up the pitch and the team over worked the ball and were unable to trouble the OPM defence.
Captain Brett Lawson rotated the players with man of the match Simon Bourne moved to right back and Rio Thomas came on to left back. A move started on the left by Bingham culminated with a cross from the right following a penetrating run from Bourne, who found skipper Lawson, who struck sweetly to score goal number seven. Their final goal saw Luxton slot in his fifth after good work on the right by Stuart Jarvis.
Okehampton remain top of the league, with a dominating lead of 14 points.
