Tavistock thirds 0

FROM the start Tavistock dominated and sat for long periods in the opponents’ half. Fine work from their midfield quartet comprising of Walker, Bott, Staig and Whitson-Fay allowed the attacks to flow and as the pressure mounted so did the chances — all having good shots on goal.

Andrews added his experience in the ‘D’, working well to apply the pressure. Unfortunately for the visitors the elusive final touch was missing that would have ensured a well deserved goal.

Well into the first half and with his first touch of the game Tavistock’s goalkeeper Oxenham made a fine save only to see it go to a predatory PGSOB player to open the scoring.

The second half was similar to the first with Tavistock continually attacking, although finding the opposition mounting attacks of their own and starting to apply sustained pressure. This was ably dealt with by Venton. who had an outstanding game both in defence and in an attacking midfield role along with Gott, Monger and Gunter-Leece, but a single lapse led to the home side scoring a second.

Two-nil down and with ten minutes to go Mason for Tavistock was pushed forward to bolster the attack, but time eventually ran out.
