Falmouth ladies 6
Okehampton ladies 2
OKEHAMPTON hockey ladies travelled down to Falmouth and from the first whistle piled on the pressure.
However it was the home side who scored an early goal. The Falmouth attack soon put the pressure onto the Okehampton defence of Jane Jones, Anna Cherrington, Rachel Hammett and Carol Taylor - leading to a penalty flick being awarded. A focused Shannon Osman saw that Falmouth did not increase their lead with a dive to the right to save. This gave Okehampton some confidence as great play from Hannah Whiteley and Kim Davey pushed the Falmouth defence. With the half time whistle blown, Okehampton were happy with their performance.
The second half got off to a shaky start for the away team as they conceded three fast goals. This only gave Okehampton more determination as quick passes lead to Lesley Bingham scoring a superb far corner goal.
Falmouth then caught Oke off-guard as a quick break from them saw them score another.
Oke player of the match Winnie Rademaker soon joined Bingham on the score card as she scored her first of the season.
Okehampton's attack of Molly Petherbridge and Lottie Rademaker kept the pressure on the Falmouth defence but were unable to score. Falmouth had one more burst of energy as they attacked the Okehampton defence only for Bingham to sent the ball away with a spectacular dive. However Falmouth spotted a gap to make it 6-2 to the Cornish side.
