AT Okehampton Golf Club on Saturday in lovely sunshine club president Ted Boswell hosted the annual President's Day competition.

A two to count Stableford was the format of the day with spot prizes on various holes. With the course in superb condition some high scores were obtained.

The winners with 83 points were Graham Moysey, Alan Searle and Del Owen.

There was a real battle on for second position with the next three teams all coming in with 78 points, but after count back second place was awarded to the team of Alan Grimshaw, Mike Davis and Chris Goodman; third went to Paul Fewings, Lee Pengelly and Ian Moore and fourth place went to Mike Lang, John Birch and Geoff Fidler.

Earlier this month Okehampton ladies played their monthly medal competition.

The silver division was won by Abby Turner with a net 74 and the winner of the bronze division was Linda Walker with a net 72.

The club's ladies were well represented at the Western Morning News competition at Exeter Golf and Country Club and Jenni Hutchinson and Sylvie Gowers were third overall.

The 27 hole ladies club championship was played August 8 and the winner was Abby Turner with a gross 117.

The club handicap winner was Mary Keir with 109. The winner of the Vick Rosebowl for over 65s was Val Dodsworth with 34pts.
