Tavistock A 4
Okehampton A 4
Tavistock dominated the early exchanges with frequent attacks at the Okehampton D, only for the Oke 'keeper to make a fine string of saves. The deadlock was broken with Oke taking the lead through a finely executed counter attack — Brett Lawson finishing the move off well.
Tavistock continued to batter away at the Okehampton defence, creating many chances, but it took a sparkling, weaving run from midfielder Tom Honey who broke through and placed the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the goal — leaving the 'keeper with no chance.
Tavistock appeared to switch off for a split second allowing Oke to sweep down the pitch allowing Lewis Day to finish in style.
After half time Tavistock clawed it back to 2-2 with some lovely passing between Dave Anning and Phil Honey down the right creating a simple tap in on the near post for Josh Reynolds.
Minutes later a well worked Tavistock attack made by Jonathan Elliot and Tom Honey found Josh Reynolds just outside the Oke D, who with his first touch took the ball over the top of the last defender and knocked the ball past the onrushing keeper to make it 3-2 to Tavistock.
Tavistock won a series of short corners, to no avail, due to the visiting goalkeeper's fine form including a quadruple save off one of the corners.
Okehampton made it 3-3 through Brett Lawson. Tavistock then created a chance via a short corner, this time Tom Honey profiteering, flicking the ball at pace across the goal and into the right hand corner of the Oke net.
Okehampton though came back with Brett Lawson completing his hat trick to make the final result 4-4. This was a fair result for both sides who now look forward to the league.
