WEST Devon and East Cornwall runners and 'budding ones' are invited to take part in a series of scenic runs in the parks of the Duchy.
The first ever parkrun in Cornwall took place in the beautiful surroundings of the National Trust's Lanhydrock House on Saturday. There were 146 runners of which 82 were first timers to parkrun who turned out for the 5k run.
Parkrun is organised free, weekly, and its 5km timed runs encourage people of all abilities to take part — from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience. Everybody is welcome!
Cornwall Sports Partnership are working to create more sites across Cornwall.
Lewis Sanders from CSP who set up the event said: 'It was great to see so many runners to this first event. We had people from Leeds, Swindon and one person even got the sleeper train from London to take part! I'd like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped out at the event. This is a community event and we need people to help out each week and even become part of the core team.'
The Lanhydrock parkrun takes place every Saturday morning at 9am. For more information about its parkrun visit http://www.parkrun.org.uk/lanhydrock">www.parkrun.org.uk/lanhydrock
