WEST Devon teenager, Ella Ellis took part in Plymouth Triathlon Club's annual junior aquathlon last Sunday.

The event, which is run alongside the adult triathlon, involves a sea swim followed immediately by a run along Mountbatten pier.

Ella, 14, was the first girl to complete the 400 metre swim and 3km run in the scorching heat. 

The Plymouth College pentathlete has been entering this event since she was 10 and although she was unable to compete last year, has won all four times that she has raced.

Ella, who lives in Buckland Monachorum, has recently been in France filming the television show Fort Boyard, which will be shown later this year on ITV.

Her sporting ability, which also includes playing hockey for the West of England regional squad, made her an ideal choice for the challenging programme.
