TAVISTOCK schoolboy Ben Bluett has had an amazing couple of weeks in diving competitions both here and abroad.

On February 4, Ben, who attends St Peter's School, flew out with his team mates to Eindhoven in Holland to represent Plymouth Diving in the boys under 14 category.

Ben achieved personal bests on all three boards, excelling in the platform.

Diving up an age-group meant he could compete off hid favourite board, the 7.5m platform, on which he had two new dives — forward 2.5 somersaults piked and front 1.5 somersaults with a full twist. Ben scored sevens on his new twist dive and finishing a respectable eighth place from 25 boys from 16 countries.

After celebrating his 11th birthday he took in Plymouth's home event the Armada Cup. Ben competed in the boys' 10/11 age.

Ben blew his PBs out of the water, winning both of the platform and 3m spring board events and also qualifying for the 1m final. In the finals Ben rose to the challenge of the stiff competition, using two dives of higher tariff to secure victory, taking gold on both platform and 3m and silver on 1m.
