PROMOTED Tavistock were in the driving seat when their game at Cullompton was abandoned.

Tavistock, already assured of the runners-up spot in the B Division before the game started, raced along to 323 all out in just 34.3 overs.

Star of the show for Tavistock with 154 scored a breakneck speed was Charlie Barriball. He took advantage of the short boundaries at Cullompton to wallops 13 sixes and the same number of fours during his 82-ball innings.

Best of the chip-ins were Nick Coe’s run-a-ball 33 and Will Scott-Munden’s 22.

Jason Parr had three Tavistock wickets for 59 runs, but was bested in the bowling stakes by Paul Rendall. He set a new career best of six for 62 from nine overs.

Cullompton had to score at more than seven runs an over to win the game and were lagging behind at 82 for two when rain stopped play.

Parr (19) and Ian Jarman (28) were the not-out batsmen when the rain swept in.

All-action Barriball (2-52) claimed both wickets to fall.
