Tavistock seconds v Plympton thirds

TAVISTOCK seconds entertained Plympton on Saturday and, after two heavy defeats, needed to bounce back quickly against the side  languishing at the the bottom of the table.

Batting first, Dave Watson and Ryan Burke began steadily, particularly against Plympton captain, Sean Mortimer, whose nine overs yielded only seven runs. However, after he bowled through, things became much easier, and Burke in particular plundered the bowling. The pair put on 152 for the first wicket before Watson was out for 49. Burke went on to make a superb 127 and, with Chappell getting 54 not out, Tavistock reached 307 for 3 at tea.

Plympton always struggled. Young Jack Bellamy took four wickets for 23 in seven overs, and with Wayne Downham 3-33 and Damien Wallis 3-26, they soon bowled Plympton out for 101 for a comprehensive win.
