Tavistock firsts v
Budleigh Salterton
TAVISTOCK were asked to bat by Budleigh Salterton on a good wicket and a beautiful summer’s afternoon.
Dave Bull applied himself well and made a good 50 but the other batsmen played poor shots and Tavistock slumped to 97-7 and then 113-8.
Enter, once again, 13 year-old James White who crafted a very good 36 not out and along with Sean Cleave put on 65 for the ninth wicket.
Cleave made 28 and Tavistock closed all out for 186, well short of a par score.
Tavistock started well out in the field as Jay Stevens had Rice lbw first ball.
Proctor made a quick 28 but Zimbabwean Zwuhao provided the impetus with a rapid 45 —including some big sixes.
Richardson made 38 and although Tavistock kept taking wickets the score kept moving with Budleigh reaching their targets with 16 overs to spare.
Too many wides and no balls did not help Tavistock’s cause and no one stood out with the ball and improvement is needed by the team to keep away from the relegation zone.
